June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, and the Alzheimer’s Association is encouraging all Americans to take charge of their health.

Tad Hulst, with Walk to End Alzheimer’s (Iowa City/Cedar Rapids), joined Iowa’s News Now to discuss ways to help your brain health.

  1. Incorporate healthy habits that may reduce the risk of cognitive decline
  2. Learn the early warning signs of Alzheimer’s and other dementia
  3. Be proactive in addressing memory and thinking problems
  4. Help accelerate disease-related research
  5. Volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association

More than 7 million people age 65 and older in the United States are living with Alzheimer’s, including over 62,000 in Iowa.

Two-thirds of Americans have at least one major potential risk factor for dementia.
