Tatch shared in her Instagram caption, “So many smart, capable women are stuck doing the wrong workouts for their age—and wondering why nothing’s changing. I rated the most common ones from 1 to 10 based on what actually works in midlife for fat loss, strength, and long-term results. Some might surprise you.”

The health coach in her video rated:

Weightlifting for fat loss: 10/10

You need muscles to burn fat at this age.

Cardio everyday: 5/10

Cardio is excellent for the heart but too much intense cardio can backfire and up your stress hormones.

HITT workout 4 times a week: 2/10

Way too much. 1 to 2 times a week max.

Walking daily for fat loss: 8/10

It’s my secret weapon, but on its own might not reshape your body

Light dumbbells for toning: 0/10

Not enough stimulus, you need to lift heavy for toning

This was found useful by many women over 40 who follow Tatch. They thanked her in the comments for her useful advice and shared how they wish they had learned it sooner.

One of them wrote, “I am SO GRATEFUL that I stumbled across your page. As a 43 year old woman who just decided to take exercise seriously a year ago, I had no idea what I was doing and I was working out WAY TOO MUCH and was always wondering why my results always seemed to be so minimal. I’ve learned so much from your page and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here and teaching us!”

A user commented, “Good advice. I am 51 and thinking of going to the gym.” A follower said, “Couldn’t agree more with every single answer! This is the way! I wish I had learned sooner!”
