When it comes to taking inspiration from some of the fittest in Bollywood, actor Suniel Shetty name comes up invariably. At 64, he is serving many of us fitness goals. A lot of us want to age well to like just like him, don’t we? Well, Shetty’s fitness is not just healthy genes, but also involves structured diet, consistency and a disciplined lifestyle.

On podcast with Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, Shetty revealed what all he eats, his daily calorie intake, role of protein and more.

What Suniel Shetty eats in breakfast
The actor begins his day by eating a protein-rich breakfast which typically involves four egg whites. He doesn’t like yellow part so he avoids consuming that. He steers clear of dairy products, as they don’t suit him much.

Protein consumption
During the day, he ensures he consumes about 150 to 200 grams of protein on a daily basis. He does so by either having fish or chicken during the day.

Sugar and salt consumption
Shetty hasn’t completely cut down on sugar intake. “I don’t believe in the substitute for sugar. For me, it’s either my fruit or my sugar,” he said. One thing he really enjoys without guilt is his cup of tea – one in morning and one in evening.

When it comes to salt intake, he is mindful of not consuming too much of it, but he does add a little on top of his food if need arises. He said: “No pink salt for me, regular salt for me.”

He loves THIS thing…
Shetty seems to have a sweet tooth, for he loves two things. 1. Fruit 2. Dessert. “I love my fruit. I love my dessert. And if you tell me no dessert after food, I’d go crazy,” he shared.

Early dinner
Shetty has his last meal of the day, that is, dinner by 7 pm. This helps aid his digestion and allows him to sleep at ease without feeling too full.

Daily calorie intake
Shetty is apparently also very mindful of his daily calorie intake. He consumes about 1600 to 1700 calories on a daily basis; just the right amount to help him give his best during workouts. Keeping calorie count in check helps in healthy weight management.

Clearly, there are so many things one can learn from Shetty to maintain good health and fitness. A: You don’t have to complicate it and be too hard on yourself. Just keep it sustainable and be consistent with health food habits. B: Engage in mindful eating and keep track of your calorie intake. C: Have everything, but in moderation instead of cutting out things completely from your diet.
