Popular 30p breakfast food that can slash blood pressure for healthy heart

If you are looking to lower your blood pressure and incorporate more superfoods into your diet, there is one essential item you should add to your shopping list. Experts at Harvard Health highlight a particular fruit that we should be eating – or drinking.

Discussing the benefits of “superfoods for heart health,” they emphasise that oranges play a crucial role in maintaining healthy blood pressure and providing essential vitamins.

They said: “These popular, widely available fruits have a lot going for them: they’re rich in cholesterol-lowering soluble fiber, potassium – which helps counteract the blood pressure-raising effects of sodium – and vitamin C.”

You can do this by either eating an orange each day or having a glass of orange juice in the morning. The latter is a great option if you enjoy a refreshing drink to start your day or need a quick breakfast before heading to work.

For instance, you can grab a 1L carton of Everyday Essentials Orange Juice from ALDI for just 85p, with similar options available at Morrisons, Lidl, ASDA, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and other supermarkets. If you prefer fresh juice daily, consider buying fresh oranges and squeezing them yourself – either in the morning or the night before for convenience.

Alternatively, you can simply eat an orange on the go. At Morrisons, a loose orange costs just 30p, and many stores offer single oranges or packs of five for around 99p.

The health gurus further add that if you want to try different foods, the options are endless. “If you want to splurge on some slightly more exotic selections, try quinoa, kale, avocados, berries, and dark chocolate,” they suggest.

Their benefits don’t stop there with experts at Benenden Health noting: “Oranges are another fruit that can give you bundles of energy when you are feeling drowsy. They are also a great electrolyte replenisher and, of course, high in vitamin C which boosts fatigue-reducing collagen production.”
