According to Premani, turmeric also supports cardiovascular health by regulating cholesterol levels and improving blood vessel function.

She suggests the following ways in which turmeric can be used for improving skin health.

  • Turmeric application in combination with multani mitti and sandalwood can help heal face acne.
  • A homemade face mask can be made for individuals with oily skin by combining wheat, curd and turmeric. This type of mask is commonly known as ubtan and can help clear up skin of any travel-related inflammation, and can also help remove any residual colours from playing Holi.
  • Turmeric and sandalwood can be combined and applied to bruises or abrasions to heal them.
  • Some curcumin supplements can be utilised on dermatologists’ approval for their anti-inflammatory properties for treating chronic skin diseases. However, since the data on this type of usage is still limited, it should not be tried without a doctor’s recommendation.

Turmeric can be added in your diet in various ways. “Incorporating turmeric into your routine is simple and delicious. Enjoy it as a golden latte, add it to curries or take it as a supplement after consulting a dietician.
