INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Firefighter Tim celebrated his dad, Jerry Griffin’s, 74th birthday with a special workout routine designed to match his age, highlighting his commitment to fitness even after retirement.
Griffin, who retired last year, has been a regular at the gym, often working out with his best friend Joe. To mark his birthday, his family organized a workout consisting of 74 exercises, emphasizing mobility and body weight movements.
“As we get older, you fall, you get nervous, you want to get up,” Tim said, “So if we always get up, that was something my grandmother, Vera, used to say.”
The workout included a series of exercises such as get-ups, push-ups, step-back lunges, knee raises, and side squats. Each exercise was chosen to promote mobility and cardiovascular health, rather than focusing on heavy lifting.
Griffin’s dedication to fitness is shared with his family, as his son noted, “We’re getting up off the ground, we’re jumping, our heart’s pumping.” The workout was a tribute to Griffin’s age and a testament to his active lifestyle.
Jerry Griffin’s 74th birthday celebration is an inspiring reminder of the importance of staying active and healthy at any age.
