Mississippi content creator TaShe E’Lan may not have kids, but she certainly exerts Big Mom Energy in her recent TikTok video.
“All of my friends are moms. I play ‘aunt’ to many children,” E’Lan tells TODAY.com. Being able to watch friends raise their kids helps her see the way they’re sometimes “acting” like a parent.
“I see them cheering on the kids when they do something … but then coming and telling me, ‘They showed me that 15 times already,'” E’Lan laughs.
E’Lan incorporated many overused parenting expressions into a TikTok gym routine that is equal parts hilarious and true-to-life. Feel free to incorporate these exercises — and the accompanying phrases —into your parenting routine.
Car Grabbers and Reachers
- “Where you at?”
- “Grab this drink now. Hurry up!”
Car Ride Russian Twists
- “Do I need to turn this car around?!”
- “Who do you think you’re talking to?”
“Get These Groceries” Shoulder Raises
- “Get this bag. It’s heavy!”
- “This is what I had you for.”
Impatient Toe Taps and Raises
- “My patience is wearing thin.”
- “Excuse me, what are we waiting on?”
“Gimme That Phone” Arm Curls
- “Hand it over.”
- “I pay the bill on that.”
“My mom is kind of like the main source that I get my inspiration from,” E’Lan shares. “Many of these quotes are things that she said to me.”
She has been writing down funny parenting expressions from her mom and her friends for quite some time now — and she still has a treasure trove of content to mine.
E’Lan had a feeling that a lot of viewers would relate to these expressions.
“I get this feeling sometimes when I’m making certain pieces of content where I’m like this has so many marks that it could hit, from humor to relatability,” she says.
And the video certainly hit with 100,000 viewers. Comments included:
- “This is so smart. No muscles pulled while parenting.”
- “The most realistic workout I have ever seen! Are you taking clients?”
- “The way I choked on my kid’s leftover cereal watching this. Where can I find mom friends like you?”
From all of her observations from the aunt point of view, E’Lan has learned a few things about raising kids. “I want to tell the moms that there is no correct formula. You have to design your own formula,” she says.
“Nobody has it all figured out,” she continues. “There’s no right or wrong to parenting. You just kind of got to figure it out on your own, and you’re doing a great job either way.”
