After Father’s Day: How dads can shape up their fitness routines for long-term success

SHREVEPORT, La. — Father’s Day has just passed—a time when many dads finally get a chance to rest and indulge. But now that the celebrations are over, many fathers are looking ahead to the summer months, a prime opportunity to boost their fitness and reach peak performance.

According to fitness expert Kylie Larson, who specializes in helping men develop better health habits, the key to lasting success isn’t about jumping into intense workout routines. Instead, she advises starting small and building sustainable habits.

“You pick one or two things that you feel like you can consistently do so that you feel successful,” Larson explains. “As high performers, we don’t like feeling like failures. When we try something that doesn’t work out, it can set us back. But if you say, on a scale of 1 to 10, that you’re a nine on being able to take a ten-minute walk during your lunch break, that’s something achievable. If you can consistently do that for a week or two, it helps you stick with your routine and build on it.”

Larson also highlights the importance of accountability partners. Whether it’s a workout buddy or a supportive social media group, having someone to help nudge you when you miss your fitness milestones can make a big difference.

This approach isn’t just for dads—men and women alike can benefit from starting small, staying consistent, and leaning on community support to maintain long-term health and focus.
