Apple Fitness+ Adds Four New Workouts for the New Year

Apple is adding four new workout programs to its Fitness+ subscription on Monday while touting the results of a new study that supports the efficacy of Apple Watch.

“Many people give up their New Year’s fitness resolutions by the second Friday in January, also known as Quitter’s Day,” Apple explains. “A new analysis of data contributed by approximately 100,000 participants in the Apple Heart and Movement Study over four years identified participants with Apple Watch consistently keep up their exercise levels through Quitter’s Day and beyond.”

According to the Apple Heart and Movement Study, conducted in collaboration with Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the American Heart Association study, Apple Watch users rapidly increase their exercise levels in January—over 60 percent of them do so by over 10 percent compared to December—and then continue their progress into the spring. And almost 80 percent of those who increase their exercise minutes in early January maintain that through the second half of the month.

To facilitate this success in early 2026, Apple is introducing a Ring in the New Year limited-edition award for Apple Watch users who close all three Activity rings for seven days in a row in January. Strava users with an Apple Watch can participate in a Quit Quitting challenge and earn an Apple Watch badge in Strava for logging 12 workouts anytime within the month. And Apple Fitness is adding four new workout programs:

  • Make Your Fitness Comeback. This program features Strength, HIIT (high interval training), and Yoga workouts and is a four-week with three workouts per week, one of each type for just 10 minutes each.
  • Build a Yoga Habit in 4 Weeks. This program helps you add yoga into your fitness routine with workouts designed to increase flexibility, cut down on stress, and build strength and stability. There are two 10-minute flows, one slow and one energetic, every week that complement existing workout routines and help build a habit.
  • Back-to-Back Strength and HIIT. This program consists of three 20-minute workouts pairing these strength and HIIT workouts, each for 10 minutes, three times per week over three weeks. The workouts are designed to be done one right after the other with no break in between.
  • Strength Basics in 3 Weeks. This program helps you get started with strength training fundamentals, while those returning to a strength routine can get caught up on techniques for common moves. It launches January 12 and consists of three workouts per week, each one focusing on a different body area.

Apple is also adding new workouts to the Fitness+ Artist Spotlight series, featuring artists like KAROL G and, on February 2, Bad Bunny. And the Time to Walk series is getting new episodes featuring actor and producer Penn Badgley, Spice Girls member, singer, songwriter, and TV personality Mel B, and actor Michelle Monaghan.

Apple Fitness+ is now available in 48 countries and regions around the world, Apple notes, on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. And those with an Apple Watch or AirPods Pro 3 get personal metrics like real-time heart rate and calories burned displayed onscreen during workouts.
