INDIANAPOLIS — A crucial health care facility is one step closer to serving the community on Indianapolis’ north side.

Ascension St. Vincent held a ribbon cutting and blessing Monday for the newest addition to its hospital campus.

The Lucas Family Brain and Spine Hospital will be dedicated to advanced care. It features 38 ICU-capable rooms, all connected to the main hospital.

The company’s chief strategy officer, Stephan Masoncup, told 13News the new addition will help save lives.

“This is the destination for brain and spine care across Indiana and the entire region,” said Masoncup. “We are blessed to have the top specialists in the country right here in Indiana. People do not have to leave home to receive the type of care that they can receive only in the best locations in the entire country.”

Construction on the space began in 2022 and is expected to open later this year.
