New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson recently hosted private workouts for the quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends in San Diego, California.

Wilson and his 18 offensive teammates spent three days working on various offensive drills to improve their skills, route running, and to continue to build chemistry with all of the new faces.

As a veteran who has been to the Super Bowl, Wilson knows what it takes to be successful in this league. Tight end Chris Manhertz got his first taste of playing with Wilson in 2023 with the Denver Broncos, but last season he was in New York for the 3-14 season.

An 11-year veteran himself and native of the Bronx, Manhertz has a high level of respect for his quarterback.

“As a player, Russ is as detailed as it gets,” Manhertz told the New York Post. “It’s kind of contagious to be around him and see how he works and how he carries himself.

“It’s great work, and it’s necessary work leading up to training camp. It’s all business on the field, and Russ is all business.”

The Giants need their quarterback to be laser-focused and have the ability to drown out the New York noise. Approaching the game with an “all-business” mindset is, perhaps, the best way to do that.

Wilson also has a heavy focus on work ethic, film study, and positivity. While the Wilson Way didn’t pan out in Denver, it may be exactly what the Giants need.

“I think it feels different this year in a good way,” Manhertz said. “The leadership is a lot better. Having that alignment between everybody and the pulse of the locker room, and a good mix of veterans and young guys who last year were thrown into the fire early, and that allowed them to grow up a little bit.”

The Giants have a good mix of veteran players and young players on the team in 2025, and the organization as a whole was ready for a culture change. Wilson is doing that, and the mentality around the locker room is shifting.

Wilson’s positive mindset is changing the mood of the locker room, the players are buying in, and 2025 is shaping up to be far better than 2024.
