MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – 2026 is here, which means Upper Michigan Today is back in full swing!

Audrey Stetson and John Redfield set themselves up for a new year of microbiome health with Dr. Ryan Brang. With his culinary medicine background, Dr. Ryan taught UMT all about microbiome-focused healthy eating and good habits for a happy gut.

In the comfort of the Marquette Food Co-op’s teaching kitchen, Dr. Ryan prepared a sticky glazed tofu bowl, complete with protein-packed yum yum sauce and a rainbow of vegetables.

But first, what even is the microbiome? On Monday’s episode, Audrey and John learned gut health basics and how to implement small steps that’ll support gut health in day-to-day life.
