Kirsten Storms recently delved into her upcoming crucial brain surgery. The General Hospital star announced a temporary break from the show earlier in July. She notably moved to Nashville with her daughter. She has now finally revealed what exactly happened in a detailed Instagram post, stating she is due for brain surgery.
General Hospital star Kirsten Storms to undergo surgery ‘sometime in the next two weeks’
In a publicly shared Instagram update, Kirsten Storms candidly shared the details of her diagnosis and treatment. She also revealed she will undergo brain surgery. She wrote that her neurosurgeon discovered an aneurysm during a follow-up scan in January 2025. This follow-up came as a result of a cyst removal she underwent in 2021. In her post, she wrote of the scan, “The January scan happened because I had symptoms that the doctors thought could’ve been brain related.”
“Ok — when I say that I was shocked when the doctors told me they found an aneurysm on the right side of my brain… Welp, I basically launched into a standup comedy routine,” she continued. She also described how she underwent a procedure in which the doctor threaded a camera from her leg up to her brain. She wrote, “(It’s a routine procedure, but the path inside your body that they lead the camera through is insane… THE CAMERA GOES THROUGH YOUR ARMPIT, guys. Your. Armpit.)”

She then explained, “Anyway, because of the slightly complex situation with the aneurysm (nothing bad, just not typical), it wasn’t coiled that weekend.” Further in the post, she described how she and her friend Emme began crocheting sweaters, while her “coiling procedure is being scheduled for sometime in the next 2 weeks.”
Shen then addressed her reason for moving with her daughter. She wrote, “Emotional support, when going through times in life that cause worry, is crucial. Aneurysms (obviously) can be caused by stress. Brain cysts? I believe that is possible too.” Furthermore, she mentioned, “The biggest reason for the move was Harper, but a lot of it was for my physical and mental health. And my overall happiness.”
