IN the modern world, where health maintenance is a major concern and technology has boosted research and information, wellness practices have seeped into people’s consciousness. Gut health is among these, where Yakult plays a major role.
Although Yakult has been known for almost 50 years in the Philippines and 90 in Japan for digestive health, modern research confirms the importance of gut health for overall wellness.
Shawn Manske of Biocidin Botanicals said recent research shows gut health plays a critical role in physiology and disease.
According to Amy Kimberlain of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, “Keeping a healthy environment in your gut is critical to optimizing your health and staving off chronic disease.”
In the late 1920s, Minoru Shirota developed Lacticaseibacillus paracasei strain Shirota (LcS), later Yakult’s main ingredient.
Introduced in 1935, Yakult became widely available. Its LcS strain has GRAS Certification from the US FDA.
Yakult products now have a wide consumer base in 40 countries.
Yakult is a pioneer in probiotics. “Its efficacy is guaranteed by 8 billion live LcS in every bottle of Yakult drink,” says Yakult El Salvador Manufacturing Corp. Chairman and Yakult Philippines President Alberto Dy Sun.
