An Omaha man pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to selling a fentanyl-laced counterfeit Oxycodone pill that led to another man’s fatal overdose.

Patrick Hoshor, 27, will be sentenced in July. Under the terms of the plea agreement, if accepted by the judge, he will receive a sentence of 14 years in prison.

Hoshor was charged with distribution of fentanyl resulting in death shortly after the April 2023 death of 36-year-old Brandon Revere. According to court documents, Revere was found unconscious in the bathroom of his home with a needle in his thigh shortly after 5 a.m. on April 1, 2023, and he died at the hospital.

Investigators at the scene noticed an small, empty plastic bag on the bathroom counter. Nearby was an unopened beer can that had a light-blue crushed substance on its top. Fentanyl-laced counterfeit oxycodone pills are most commonly light blue in color, according to an affidavit.

After gaining access to Revere’s phone, investigators found text messages between Revere and a man named “Patrick” arranging to buy “30s,” or 30 milligram Oxycodone pills, on March 31, 2023. Investigators recovered surveillance video from a MegaSaver gas station which showed Hoshor and Revere meeting in the parking lot.

On April 5 — days after Revere died — investigators used Revere’s phone to set up another meeting with Hoshor to buy more pills. Hoshor, unaware of Revere’s death, showed up to meet him and was arrested. According to his plea agreement, Hoshor admitted in an interview after his arrest to selling M30 fentanyl pills to Revere.

Hoshor is set to be sentenced on July 10.
